Fall is upon us and this years'
garden mums are ready to be planted in the garden. This long blooming perennial
adds wonderful fall color to an otherwise colorless fall area. Yoder,
a top breeder in hardy mums, has introduced
four new
colors for the 1999 season.

ZESTY JEAN
Zesty Jean brings a pleasing pastel peach - coral color to the garden
mums. Flowering after Blushing Emily, this plant is filled with fresh coral
flowers throughout September. The flowers are coral with a slight two -
tone effect created by a slightly darker center. A decorative flower type,
Zesty Jean averages 2" in diameter.

CARRIE
Carrie brings the refined elegance of the two - toned garden mum to the
garden. A more vibrant color than Glowing Lynn or Triumph, this plant is a
sure winner with it's
dark red - bronze center petals and golden outer petals. This is a decorative flower type with up to 2" diameter flowers.

MELISSA A wonderful addition to the mum family with its excellent
flower form, Melissa's flower color and growth habit is second to
none. An ideal variety that flowers after Debonair, it provides a
wonderful palette of colors in early October. With bright lavender flowers,
this plant displays a cushion flower form with larger than 2"
diameter flowers. Rated high for its vigor and growth habit, Melissa's strong
flexible stems withstand windy fall days.
 CLAUDIA Claudia
is early flowering in the fall, with deeper flower color and better
flowering uniformity than bright Stephanie. The petite, well - formed
flowers offer a new look to the traditional daisy garden mum. The
ray petals are bright yellow and the disk is light green, maturing to
yellow. The daisy flowers range from 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" in
diameter. This plant displays a compact growth habit on sturdy stems.
The ball shaped plants become totally covered with a profusion of
flowers.
